Understand more about the Problem of Binging
We are all born with a DESIRE for food, as well as the fact that our bodies REQUIRE food to nourish and sustain them.
When we get into the area of LUSTING after food we are in trouble.
To some a binge is eating more than they usually do, to others it could be eating into oblivion.
Your eating becomes BINGING and COMPULSIVE when you:
A Eat when angry (Anger is a mask for hurt, fear, sadness, frustration)
B Eat to comfort yourself in times of stress
C Eat to stave off boredom
D Lie about what you are eating (not eating)
E Hide food away / hide while you eat
F Feel embarrassed about how you look
G Carry 20% more weight than your goal healthy-weight range
Understand the 12 Common Reasons for Compulsive Eating:
1 Yielding in regard to food for cultural and familial reasons
2 Using food to protect yourself from love and intimacy
3 Using food to meet your need for immediate gratification
4 Using food as a tranquilizer
5 Using food to avoid facing your problems
6 Using food to punish yourself - or others
7 Using food to relieve your depression or stress
8 Using food to rebel against yourself or others
9 Using food to express your need to control your circumstances
10 Having a faulty perception of your body – “the more serious the eating problem, the less accurately you see yourself”
11 Having emotional feelings about food
12 Using food as your nurturer to satisfy your ‘love hunger’
And finally: Failure to spend enough time with the Lord.
We ARE Body, Mind and Spirit. Any one of the above 13 situations would suggest your Body, Mind or Spirit is undernourished. Maybe more than just one of the parts of yourself…
Your Spirit, directed by the Lord’s Spirit, needs to be the controller of your life. When you are filled with food but still feel hungry, your Spirit is undernourished. Feed your Spirit.
1 Read the Words of God directly - daily
2 Be increasingly obedient to every word that comes from God
3 Feed your body with good healthy food
